Module 2: Applying Continuous Quality Improvement Principles to Lipid Management

This module introduces the principles of continuous quality improvement and uses the example of a practice that is implementing patient waist measurements in order to illustrate how the principles are applied.

Participants also will learn how their practice is performing on key lipid management performance indicators by entering certain data from records of 20 patients who are 60-years-of-age or older into the Lipid Practice Audit Tool. The data are stored in a secure database without patient identifiers and can be accessed only with the particpant's user name and password. These data will be viewable again in Module 3 as baseline measurements in a second audit in order to illustrate how practice changes can affect the key lipid management performance indicators.
